Stormwater hydraulic modeling – a comparative study of Mike+ and Infodrainage
Effective stormwater management is important in urban environments to mitigate flooding, manage peak flows, and support resilient infrastructure planning. Hydraulic modeling tools play a critical role in the design and analysis of drainage networks, yet different software tools often rely on different assumptions, numerical methods, and model structures, which raise questions about comparability and reliability. This study compares two widely used stormwater modeling tools, MIKE+ and InfoDrainage.
A Descriptive water mass analysis of T-S-Time relationships of hydrographic data from the Gullmarn Fjord
The Temperature-Salinity-Time analysis is for the first time tested in Swedish coastal waters. This three-dimensional method makes it possible to analyse the seasonal variability of hydrographic conditions in coastal waters strongly influenced by freshwater and heat fluxes. The method is implemented on data from the Gullmarn Fjord in western Sweden where one of the longest monitoring stations of daily hydrographic data was located. The time series covers the years between 1940 and 1985.
Commissioning of an emergency faecal sludge treatment plant in Imvepi, Uganda
This article evaluates the commissioning of an emergency faecal sludge treatment plant piloted in Imvepi refugee settlement, Uganda. The treatment plant is composed of screening and a settling tank, followed by a sequencing batch reactor (SBR) shifting between aerobic and anaerobic operation, which were evaluated in this study, and finally sand filters and chlorination. The study also explores the feasibility of adapting the units’ SBR for a cold-climate crisis scenario.
A tool for screening groundwater ecosystem services at Swedish drinking-water sources
Groundwater protection enjoys broad public support, yet implementation is often constrained by competing land uses and the need to justify trade-offs transparently. Ecosystem services offer a useful framework for structuring these discussions, but systematic screening is still uncommon because relevant information is dispersed across sources and time-consuming to compile.
Hållbar utveckling, plastföroreningar och akvatiska ekosystem
Målet med denna studie var att studera avfallshantering och plastföroreningar i Sydafrika, Senegal och El Salvador. I Senegal och El Salvador undersökte två studenter lärares tankar, erfarenheter och kunskaper kring hållbar utveckling och hur dessa är implementerade i skolor. I dessa länder är källsortering och återvinning mycket begränsade, vilket innebär att de står inför stora utmaningar för att uppfylla de globala målen i Agenda 2030.
Optimerat system för filterspolning vid ett vattenverk
Denna artikel redogör för en metod att skapa ett system för filterspolning i ett vattenverk med ett stort antal filter, med gemensamma spolvatten- och spolavloppsvattenvolymer. Metoden kombinerar ett förändringsbart tidschema för filterspolning med behovsstyrd filterspolning för att både kunna minska risken för spolköer, som leder till produktionsminskning, och minimera vatten- och energiförbrukningen för filterspolning.
